Fellowships
There are a variety of routes through which post-doctoral researchers and others can become members of our community, either as a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) or Research Fellow (RF). Wolfson welcomes more Research Fellows than any other college in Oxford, providing college affiliation to researchers employed by faculties and departments to do post-doctoral research. The College usually has around 100 Research Fellows at any given time, across a wide variety of subjects.
Non-Stipendiary research and Junior Research Fellowships
During the year Wolfson College holds two competitions through which we appoint a number of new non-stipendiary Research/Junior Research Fellows. The Humanities and Social Sciences Competition is advertised from January, elected from 1 October for three years, and the Sciences Competition is advertised from September, elected from 1 January for three years. All Fellowships will be advertised on the vacancies page and all non-stipendiary Research Fellows/Junior Research Fellows must have a contract of employment with the University of Oxford or external research funding. For general enquires contact presidents.office@wolfson.ox.ac.uk.
Geoffrey Garton Creative Arts Fellowship
As well as the College’s unique collection of modern art, Wolfson supports Creative Arts Fellowships in the visual arts, music, performing arts or creative writing.
In 2018, the Wolfson Creative Arts Fellow became the Geoffrey Garton Creative Arts Fellow, in honour of a generous legacy made to Wolfson College by the late Dr Garton, a former Fellow and Bursar of Wolfson College. Income from this legacy provided a significant increase to the stipend available for this Fellowship, as well as support for Wolfson’s gardens, art collections and music scene. The current Creative Arts Fellows in Music are Lekan Babalola and Kate Luxmoore.
