Abstract: Lombok island struck by magnitude 7.0 earthquake on 5th August 2018 and followed by 1,901 number of aftershock earthquakes within one month. While magnitude 7.1 earthquake hit Ridgecrest region in Southern California on 6th July 2019 and triggered 12,941 number of aftershock earthquakes within two weeks. How could one earthquake trigger another earthquake? What controlled the growth of prolonged aftershocks? Why on the contrary, magnitude 8.0 Peru earthquake in 2019 produced only three magnitude > 4.0 aftershocks?
