Making a gift to Wolfson College in memory of a loved one allows you to celebrate their life and to support future generations of Wolfson students and researchers. In memory gifts can be directed towards our greatest needs or a particular area of your choice.
You can make a single or regular donation via the link below. If you have made a donation, please contact us to let us know that this gift is in memory of a loved one, along with any other information you would like to share.
If you would like to discuss potential naming opportunities such as establishing a scholarship, travel award, or hardship bursary or naming a space at Wolfson, please Senior Development Officer, Alice Marsh who would be delighted to hear from you.
- By cheque made out to ‘Wolfson College’ with an accompanying note, referencing ‘in memory giving’. Please send your cheque for the attention of Alice Marsh (Senior Development Officer) to the address at the foot of this webpage.
- By leaving a gift in your Will in memory of a loved one.
- Sponsoring a Tree – You’ll be able to view the tree in the College grounds. We ask for a donation of £5,000.
- Sponsoring a Bench – Display a plaque with your personal dedication. Bench sponsorship starts at £1,000.
- Sponsoring a Dining Hall Chair – Engrave a disk with your personal dedication. We ask for a donation of £500.
- Sponsoring a Book – You’ll be able to view the book and bookplate in the College library. We ask for a donation of £250.
Many Wolfsonians over the years have met their significant other, celebrated the birth of a child, or enjoyed special milestones at Wolfson. A gift to College is a unique way to celebrate a special moment in a friend or loved one’s life, such as a birthday, graduation, wedding or anniversary.

How in memory gifts have helped
We are very appreciative when family and friends choose to celebrate a loved one through a gift to the College, and wherever possible, we use the money raised to fund a project that reflects the interests of the person being remembered. Below are some examples that recent gifts have supported.
- Dr Ellen Rice was a pillar of the Wolfson community and a classicist specialising in the culture and history of ancient Greece, Rome and Ptolemaic Egypt. The Ellen Rice Fund supports graduate students and Junior Research Fellows working on the ancient world, to attend fieldwork opportunities, conferences, and museum and library research visits.
- Wolfson College Boat Club were able to purchase their first single scull through donations in memory of alumnus Bernard Henry. Bernard was a keen sportsman and loyal WCBC member who supported the club’s philosophy that sport was for all.
