Meet the Team

Huw David, Development Director

Huw joined Wolfson in April 2019, having previously served as Development Director of the Rothermere American Institute at Oxford University, where he led the Institute’s multi-million pound fundraising campaign. His most recent book, Trade, Politics, and Revolution: South Carolina and Britain’s Atlantic Commerce, 1730-1790 won the 2018 George C. Rogers Jr. Prize for South Carolina history. The manuscript received the Hines Prize in 2015. Huw’s work has been published in journals including Global Networks, the Journal of Southern History, and the South Carolina Historical Magazine. He has held visiting fellowships at institutions including the University of South Carolina and the Huntington Library, Los Angeles.

He holds trustee positions at Sulgrave Manor and the Benjamin Franklin House, and serves as a judge for the Benjamin Franklin House literary prize. Huw is an Affiliate Faculty Member at the College of Charleston’s Carolina Lowcountry and the Atlantic World (CLAW) Program, where he has also been a Wells Fargo Distinguished Public Lecturer.

Alice Marsh, Senior Development Officer

Alice joined the Wolfson Development and Alumni Relations Office in September 2023, after working as Philanthropy Officer (Stewardship and Legacies) at the British Museum, and before as a fundraiser at the V&A and British School at Rome. Alice has a particular interest in the Ancient World having studied Classical Art and Archaeology at King’s College London and Cardiff University.

Her role as Senior Development Officer centres around building and stewarding relationships with Wolfson’s network of alumni and current donors. She is responsible for Wolfson College’s Cherwell Society, and assists in the development and implementation of the College’s major fundraising programmes alongside organising donor events including the Iffley Dinner and Cherwell Society and Donors Lunch.

Alex Fels, Development Officer

Alex manages the annual fundraising campaigns, the alumni communications, the department database and the alumni webpages. He organises the alumni events programme and provides administrative support to the Development and Alumni Relations Office.
