Biography
I am a researcher based between the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and Wolfson College.
This year, I will be using the archives of the Archaeological Salvage of Sudanese Nubia (1963-1969) to examine parts of Nubia lost forever beneath the Aswan High Dam reservoir. I am reconstructing these landscapes using digital photogrammetry, and then combining advanced hydrological modelling and GIS analyses to examine how changes in the Nile’s Holocene flow may have shaped settlement patterns and intercultural contacts across the region.
In addition, I maintain ongoing research interests in the everyday life of non-elites in the Nile Valley, and in the cultural landscapes of desert Arabia, especially in Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
