Dr. Sebastian Brock’s research is mainly focused on Syriac literature during its most creative period, 4th-7th cent. AD, though as a co-editor of the Gorgias Encyclopaedic Dictionary of the Syriac Heritage (2011), his academic concerns embrace anything to do with the Syriac tradition.
In particular, Brock is interested in translations from Greek into Syriac (and the reverse), Syriac representatives of the ancient Mesopotamian genre of dialogue and dispute poems, working with manuscripts and editing unpublished texts.
